Message from the Chairman, Cllr Sinead Mooney

On the 28th February 2025 the Association received the very sad news of the passing of Alderman Robin Sider BEM.

It is clear from the words of his friends, colleagues, and the community that Robin made a profound impact during his lifetime. His dedication to public service, especially in Shepperton and Spelthorne, showcases not only his commitment to improving the lives of those around him but also the deep respect and affection he garnered from those who knew him.

Robin’s achievements, including his role as Mayor of Spelthorne, his recognition with the British Empire Medal, and his advocacy for the Armed Forces, highlight a life devoted to service and community spirit. The personal anecdotes shared by those close to him underscore his character as a compassionate and approachable leader, making him not just a public figure but a friend to many.

His passing leaves a significant void, but his legacy of kindness, dedication, and community involvement will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of residents and members of the Council and Assocation. It is through these memories and the continued commitment to the community that Robin Sider will be honoured and remembered. My deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Shepperton Town Borough Councillors Maureen Attewell, John Boughtflower and Lisa Brennan have paid tribute to Robin “Like so many others in the Shepperton and wider Spelthorne community we are immensely saddened by the death of Alderman Robin Sider BEM. A former Mayor of Spelthorne and hugely respected former local councillor he will be missed by many. His unwavering and unstinting commitment to public service is an example to us all. Our thoughts are with his family and many friends at this deeply sad time”
